So I came across some old concept art I'd done when Andy and I originally were discussing Rustbot. We had ideas of a desert wasteland surrounding a lone electrified city atop a mesa. Also, through the course of the game, the player would encounter an energy forest populated by little energy beings. The following are some ideas I had.
This is obviously the city on top of the mesa. The idea is that it's inhabited by robots who've managed to scrounge together enough pieces of junk to get a functional city. The source of electricity is unknown.
This is a canyon entrance to the energy forest. The robot inhabitants of the mesa-top city don't venture here, and those who do meet a grisly demise (yes, those are robot heads on stakes).
And these are concepts for the energy beings that would be found within the energy forest. I think I settled on (j) as an appropriate choice.
This has nothing to do with any of my coding currently, though. It's just fun to reminisce.
On a coding note, however, my appointment cancelled on me at the last minute so I came home instead. Since then I've walked the dog and prepared dinner, and now I'm going to sit down with code. Hooray!
Interesting concept art. I like the story. Are you changing it with the restart?
ReplyDeleteLittle bits here and there, but I think overall the main feel and concept of the story will remain in place.
